Crisis Intervention Services
Employees assess the immediate short-term emotional and physical needs of survivors and their children.  Issues such as safety, housing, food and medical needs are addressed.  A 24-hour crisis hotline (620-275-5911 or
800-275-0535) is available to respond to victims, family, law enforcement and the medical community.

Protection Orders
Protection from Abuse (PFA) Orders and  Protection from Stalking (PFS) Orders are completed with assistance from
advocates for survivors wishing to obtain a level of protection through the  court system.  To obtain a PFA, a survivor must 1) be in a current or past  relationship with the abuser, or 2) lived together or 3) have a child in common.
To obtain a PFS, a survivor must be able to document at least  two, separate  incidents of harassing or threatening behavior.  Survivors will have to write  their statement expressing why they desire a Protection Order and the level of
threat involved, which will be reviewed by a judge.  After a temporary order is  issued, survivors will have to attend court hearings to obtain a Final  Order.

Support Services
Emotional needs of survivors are addressed by providing face-to-face counseling, both individually and in a group setting.  Understanding, empathetic listening and guidance for practical-problems created by victimization are provided by advocates.  Support group is held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. in our office at 106 W. Fulton St.  Any survivor wanting to participate is encouraged to attend.  Child care is provided to assist mothers wanting to participate.

Shelter Services
Temporary accommodations are provided to survivors and their children who cannot remain in their homes due to the threat of violence.  Food and personal hygeniene supplies are provided.  The length of stay is dependent upon each individual circumstance.  Children attend school while their parents address issues such as employment, transportation and permanent housing.

Education
Information regarding the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking is available for presentation to individuals, groups and organizations.  We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with fellow social service agencies to provide informating regarding the prevalence, tactics and asisstance to overcome abuse issues in the home.  A curriculum designed for teens to develop healthy relationships and prevent dating violence is available and appropriate for use in school settings, church youth groups, as well as, other community organizations.

Information and Referral
Information and referrals are provided to persons seeking assistance through our agency.  We provide services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, but we refer individuals to other community resources to best meet their needs.
